Conttmaf will be at COP30 in Belém, Pará, with a seminar that reinforces the role of workers in building a more sustainable economy. The event, “Just Transition in the Maritime and Port Sectors,” organized by the Confederation, will take place on November 10, 2025, and will bring together experts, government representatives, union leaders, and national and international institutions engaged in the climate and social agenda.
The meeting will discuss pathways for a just energy transition that reduces emissions from maritime transport and guarantees opportunities and protection for workers. Conttmaf has argued that the decarbonization of the sector must be accompanied by investments in professional training, technological innovation, and occupational safety, ensuring that no one is left behind in this transformation process.
In October, the Confederation participated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the Ministry of Ports and Airports, the National Transport Confederation (CNT), and the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), consolidating the commitment to cooperation between government and workers regarding a just transition.
The seminar will feature three main panels, addressing different dimensions of the agenda:
1) Maritime Panel, dedicated to the challenges of fleet decarbonization, the modernization of the Merchant Navy, and the training of seafarers in the face of new technologies.
2) Port Panel, which will discuss the adaptation of ports, sustainability in operations, and working conditions in an energy transition scenario.
3) International Panel, focused on the exchange of experiences and policies on just transition, regional integration, and multilateral cooperation.
The event will reinforce the commitment of Conttmaf and its partners to an energy transition that is socially just, environmentally responsible, and economically viable, promoting dialogue among all sectors linked to the blue economy. Registration is free and can be done through the following link:
